MAC HAUL

So mid march I got a few things from MAC and i'll share some of the more exciting ones and leave out the brush cleaner and brow pencil etc.

I finally got my hands on Candy Yum Yum and thanks to MAC for making it a permanent shade but i'm still trying to decide if its worth all the hype.  I love the true neon pink colour but i HATE how it applies so far and it dries out my lips quite quickly which is not quite cute!  Its a Matte lipstick but I have others that go on so smoothly so I don't know whats the problem ... i'll give it a few more tries before i give up.

Now I had missed the launch for the Strength collection and was only able to get one lipstick which was Absolute; a deep red.  It's also Matte but goes on smooth and does not dry out my lips like Candy Yum Yum.  I exfoliate my lips regularly so I know that is not the problem.  I have been looking for a red to be my signature shade because I love red lipstick and wear it everywhere, lol, but I wanted something that was not too bright so I could wear it in the daytime but bright enough to stand out at night.  I LOVE THIS DAMN THANG!!!!

Now the core Colour Coded team also went to the Archie's Girls collection and again I snapped up some lippies because if you couldn't already guess, lipsticks and glosses are my most favourite MAC products!

Most of the items came from the Veronica side of the collection because she has brighter stronger colours and Betty's line was a little too soft for my skin tone.  I was thinking of getting a beauty powder but changed
my mind ... I may go back for it once its not out of stock but I got one thing from the Betty line which is Betty Bright a peachy pink Satin lipstick. I wore it during the last day of our MARCH MADNESS promotion pictured below.

The other lipstick I got is Daddy's Little Girl and I was overjoyed that I got this one since I missed out on Strong Woman from the Strength collection.  Daddy's Little Girl is more pink than Strong Woman but I love it.  I'm getting into purples lately and I also got the Mall Madness lip gloss from Veronica's Archie.  Wearing both in the pic below running errands.

The last item from the collection I got was Strawberry Malt which reminds me of my Send Me Sailing lip glass from the Hey Sailor Collection.  I was so annoyed I didn't get two of those but Strawberry Malt is close enough for me!

The packaging is the bomb and its also based on one of my favourite comic strips so I totally enjoyed this collection.  I did swatch the eye shadow palettes and was extremely disappointed in the quality so needless to say I skipped on those.  I was scared to commit to a beauty powder after my horrible experience with the In Extra Dimension highlighter but I really feel that I will go back and get one after seeing some results from friends.  And if it doesn't work out I will just pop out the pan and replace it with my own pressed powder and use it as a compact!  The characters, drinks and keepsake mints from the launch were also nice little details that is bringing me back to MAC!

From L to R: Absolute Power (Strength Collection), Candy Yum Yum (Permanent), Mall Madness Lipglass, Strawberry Malt Lip Glass, Betty Bright and Daddy's Little Girl

  1. CYY is definitely over hyped. It dries my lips as well so I passed it on to my sister and used their Pigeon Pink instead. I have a NYX matte lipstick in Shocking Pink that I am pretty sure is a dupe for CYY.

  2. Candy Yum Yum definitely was not work it to me, it applied so awful, made me never want to get another MAC lipstick. But I am in love with Daddy's Little Girl! I just found a Maybelline gloss that goes really good with it too :)I did some swatches on my blog also.
